CCPA Compliance
NovaHash is committed to respecting the privacy rights of California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and its amendment, the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). This page explains how we comply with these laws and how you can exercise your rights.
Scope and Applicability
The CCPA/CPRA applies to California residents and grants specific rights regarding their personal information. While NovaHash does not require user registration or store personal data in a database, we may collect certain information automatically through website interactions, such as cookies, web beacons, and server logs. This includes IP addresses, browser type, device identifiers, and usage patterns.
Your Rights Under CCPA/CPRA
As a California resident, you have the following rights:
- Right to Know: You can request details about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you in the past 12 months.
- Right to Delete: You may request the deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing: You have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. While we do not sell personal information for monetary consideration, we may allow third-party analytics and advertising partners to collect data via cookies for targeted advertising, which may constitute "sharing" under CPRA.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not deny goods or services, charge different prices, or provide a different quality of service because you exercised your CCPA/CPRA rights.
- Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information: If we collect sensitive personal information (e.g., precise geolocation), you may limit its use to what is necessary to perform the services you requested.
How We Comply
NovaHash does not maintain a user database or collect personally identifiable information through forms or accounts. We use only first-party and third-party analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) to understand site traffic and improve content. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information for advertising purposes beyond standard analytics. We honor Do Not Sell or Share requests and provide clear mechanisms to exercise your rights.
Data We Process
Under CCPA/CPRA, the personal information we may collect includes:
- Internet or other electronic network activity information (e.g., pages visited, time spent, clickstream data)
- Device identifiers and IP addresses
- Usage patterns and interactions with our content
- Geolocation data (approximate, derived from IP)
Legal Basis for Processing
Our processing of personal information is based on legitimate interests in improving our website, delivering relevant content, and ensuring security. We do not rely on consent for data collection under CCPA/CPRA, but we honor opt-out requests.
